WHITESVILLE, W.Va. – Today our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the men lost at the Upper Big Branch Coal Mine three years ago, the survivors and their families who face a difficult road to recovery in the years to come and the many people in our community still struggling to cope with the enormity of the disaster.

UBBMMG to sponsor Big Coal River Little League team in 2013

WHITESVILLE- The Upper Big Branch Mining Memorial Group will proudly sponsor one of the Big Coal River Little League teams this upcoming 2013 season, a spokesperson for the group announced earlier today. The team is still to be determined but the players will wear “UBB Miners Memorial” on the back of their jerseys.

UBB Miners Memorial debuts new interactive website

WHITESVILLE- The Upper Big Branch Mining Memorial Group announced the launch of a new interactive website for the Upper Big Branch Miners Memorial on Monday morning. The memorial group partnered with Bulldog Creative Services of Huntington, WV to develop the website. The company donated the majority of their time and work as a gift-in-kind to the memorial project. "It’s been a great honor to work with the volunteers of the Upper Big Branch Mining Memorial Group," said Ashleigh Graham-Smith, Senior Account Executive.

Ceremony for the 3rd Anniversary of the Disaster on April 5th, 2013.

In remembrance of the third anniversary of the Upper Big Branch Coal Mine Disaster and the lives lost there, a wreath will be placed at the UBB Miner’s Monument early Friday morning, April 5th, 2013. Instead of a public ceremony this year, the Upper Big Branch Mining Memorial Group encourages family, friends and the community to visit the Upper Big Branch Miners Memorial to remember and reflect in your own way and at your own time.
